Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change New Regulation for Water Saving in Buildings

With the amendment made by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change in the Planned Areas Zoning Regulation, the flow rates of sink faucets in buildings will be limited and the use of hot water recirculation pumps will be mandatory.

In the regulation, especially the measures to be taken regarding water saving draw attention. With the regulation, the flow rates of sink faucets will be limited to 6 liters per minute in sanitary installation projects and 8 liters per minute in showers in order to consume water more efficiently in buildings. It will be ensured that the luminaires to be used will be included in the site list accordingly.

Hot water recirculation pump will be mandatory in buildings with central hot water system. Thus, water will be saved by ensuring that hot water is always available at the taps.

With this arrangement in the regulation, water saving will be taken into account in the arrangement of parcel gardens in landscaping projects. In this context, plant selection will be made according to the climate in garden arrangements. Drip irrigation method will be used for irrigation.

The priority will be to use the water in the rainwater storage system. Obligation of "interior project" The regulation also imposes an "interior project" requirement for interior design. According to the update, an "interior project" will be required by architects or interior architects for airports, hospitals with more than 300 beds, and shopping center buildings larger than 30 thousand square meters. In built parcels, temporary waste storage areas will be allowed to be built within the towing distances, which is the prohibited area in the front, side or back gardens of the parcel. In addition, the conditions that made the installation of these systems difficult were removed by allowing the solar panels installed on the roofs of the buildings to encourage solar panels, but still required to be made within the roof slope, to exceed the roof slope.
