ENGINE OIL CHANGE POINT PERMISSION REQUIRED TO VEHICLE SERVICES!
According to the Waste Oil Management Regulation, which entered into force on 01.01.2020, auto services, fuel stations, repair shops, public institutions/organizations, municipalities, mining activities and other businesses that perform engine oil change are required to obtain an "Engine Oil Change Point Permit".
The purpose of the application is to ensure the efficient use of natural resources by protecting the environment and human health through applications such as temporary storage, collection, transportation, refining, energy recovery and disposal of waste oils.
Waste oils generated in businesses must be collected separately at the point of origin and stored in accordance with the requirements of the Waste Management Regulation.
Waste oils should be collected at the point where they are formed and stored separately depending on the type. It is forbidden to give waste oils to the receiving environment (soil, sea, lake, stream, etc.), mix it with fuel, usage as fuel or burn.
Engine Oil Change Certificate
With this regulation, motor vehicle owners will not be able to have their oil changed at motor oil change points (vehicle-maintenance services, repair shops, fuel stations, etc.) that do not have a permit from the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization. For this reason, businesses must apply as soon as possible and obtain Engine Oil Change Point Permits, which are valid for 5 years.
With the relevant regulation, a period is given until 01.01.2021 for the enterprises to obtain the Engine Oil Change Point Certificate.
So, what conditions should businesses that change engine oil comply with within the scope of the regulation?
- Establishment of a Temporary Storage Area in accordance with the requirements of the Waste Management Regulation,
- Obtaining "Engine Oil Change Point Permit" by applying to the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization,
- Registering with the Integrated Environmental Information System and applications of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization,
- The engine oil changes must be notified and approved through the online applications of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.
It is also important that you make a Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste Declaration in your business every year in January-March, and on the other hand, you submit your waste motor oils to authorized institutions by opening a request from the MoTaT system.
